KiVa
KiVa is a national anti-bullying programme which is taught in grades 1, 4 and 7. Students in all grades are expected to show awareness of the dangers of bullying and how to combat it. Click here to visit the KiVa website.
Here are our KiVa school rules:
- We leave nobody out.
- We celebrate our differences.
- We develop our social skills in a multicultural environment.
- We do not bully.
- We do not join the bullies.
- We help and encourage those who are bullied.
- We inform the school's adults of any bullying.
Cyberbullying
In this generation, a new form of bullying has emerged - cyberbullying. To find out what it is, watch the intro of this website:
www.stopcyberbullying.orgIf you are being cyberbullied or you know someone who is, there are things you can do to put a stop to it:
- STOP - don't look at emails, texts, etc. Turn off the computer. Take a break and think about what is the best thing to do. If you are being bullied, step back and think what you would say to a friend who is in your position.
- BLOCK - Email programs, social networking sites, gaming sites, etc. usually have a block button. Use it! If someone is harrassing you, block them.
- REPORT - Tell an adult you trust. Don't delete anything. Take a 'print screen' and paste it into Word. Save it. You have proof of what is happening.
Think about the information and photos you put on social networking sites. Would you give this information to a stranger or someone you don't like? If not, then don't put it on the Internet either.
Each month, there will be a video posted here for you to watch to get you thinking about e-safety issues and cyberbullying.
